ABOUT SOOHYE
Soohye JANG, Ph.D. is a performing arts producer, educator, and researcher based in Seoul, Korea.
Currently, she is a Principal Researcher at Hanyang University, YK Intercollege co-developing and organizing Systems Thinking and Design Thinking course and managing YK Maker Space, an interdisciplinary studio that students can create and explore diverse artistic mediums. She also teaches Cultural Organization’s Development at Leuphana University, Master of Arts and Cultural Management (Lüneburg, Germany). and serves as an editorial board for Journal of Creative Arts and Social Enterprise
Outside of academia, she is a CEO of arts and culture planning and research company, Connected A in partnership with various organizations and artist groups. She is also an active arts educator and lecturer working with communities and institutions such as Leeum Museum of Arts. She serves as a Professional Committee Member at Arts Council Korea, Korea Disability Arts and Cultural Center, and a Creative Innovation Committee Member at the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture.
She served as an Associate Director/Connector of Performing Arts Market in Seoul(PAMS) (2020-2022) and was a committee member of Seoul Dance Center(2021-2022), she was also the founding director of Chaeknuna Project, a nonprofit organization spreading a culture of reading books to children through arts education and achieved 10 years of serving communities and making changes with arts and culture. She has been producing and programming performing arts festivals such as Seoul International Dance Festival (2017-19), Nordic Culture Festival (2017), and producing award-winning performances such as <Becoming-Dancer>(Kim Wonyoung x Project YYIN) and made international connections in more than 30 countries.
Soohye studied English Translation and Interpretation at Dongguk University, earned her MFA in Arts Leadership at Seattle University, and Ph.D. candidate of Culture and Arts Management at Hongik University.
